Labelexpo India 2024 preview: HB Fuller - Lucid Imaging

HB Fuller | Stand: J8
American adhesive manufacturer, HB Fuller will exhibit its Swiftmelt 1892, which is a hotmelt adhesive that provides high adhesion, die-cutting performance and a balance of peel, tack, and cohesion. This ensures greater productivity. It offers excellent performance to a wide range of substrates to deliver high-quality general-purpose paper and filmic labels.

Additionally, HB Fuller will be showcasing a comprehensive range of high-performance pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs), including microsphere, water-based, solvent-based, hot melt, and UV acrylic PSAs for the production of tapes, labels and protective films.

The company’s booth will also exhibit the latest solutions for surface protection films, removable and repositionable microsphere technology, general-purpose paper and filmic label stock.

Henkel | Stand: F12
At Labelexpo 2024, Henkel will launch its latest innovation, the Technomelt 8011, which is a high-performance hot melt pressure-sensitive adhesive. This product is tailored for label stock applications, offering tack, peel strength, and die-cutting for flatbed and rotary dies. It ensures minimal face stock penetration and no ageing discolouration while being compatible with standard applicators, including nozzle and slot. Ideal for medium to high-speed coating lines, it bonds well to cardboard and films. It also works for lower application temperatures, as low as zero degrees celsius.

Henkel’s portfolio, including hotmelt rubber, UV curing, and water- and solvent-based acrylics, is ideal for labelling applications spanning from shampoo bottles, pharmaceuticals, eCommerce packaging, tyres, automotive decals, consumer durables, all combining functionality and efficiency.

At the event, Henkel will showcase its range of pressure-sensitive adhesives, featuring sustainable, water-based solutions from the aqueous PSA range, designed for diverse applications. The Loctite Duro-Tak range, part of Henkel’s portfolio, will also be highlighted for its ability to address a variety of manufacturing challenges.

Holosafe | Stand: A10
Holosafe’s star product at Labelexpo 2024 will be its track-and-trace solution for the pharmaceutical industry which was launched this year. The company plans to host live demonstrations at its booth enabling customers to gauge a preview of the product.

According to Preeti Mishra of Holosafe, the product provides secure product authentication, supply chain visibility, and anti-counterfeiting measures through serialised QR codes or unique holographic labels integrated into packaging.

Key features of the product include real-time supply visibility, anti-counterfeiting unique codes and tamper evident seals, consumer empowerment and regulatory compliance.

The track-and-trace solution makes it easy for label converters to implement serialisation on existing production lines without compromising on quality. According to the company, one such collaboration with a pharmaceutical company resulted in a 30% reduction in counterfeit complaints within six months of implementation. 

Holosafe will also exhibit tamper-evident security labels, self-adhesive labels for FMCG and garments, and customisable brand labels with RFID integration. The company operates a facility in Greater Noida, covering over 50,000-sqft with machines such as the Nilpeter FB Line 10-colour printing press and automated UV flexo printers. 

The company’s history with Labelexpo dates back to 2016 with the company showcasing its latest innovations at every edition.

Intergraphic | Stands: J3, J22, J25
Intergraphic is excited to introduce the Pulisi DSmart330F UV inkjet digital label press at Labelexpo 2024, marking a significant advancement in digital label printing technology. This press is designed for high-quality, flexible printing, making it ideal for medium and short-run jobs.

The DSmart330F accommodates a wide range of substrates, from thin films to thicker materials, enhancing adaptability for various label applications. It features multi-level ink droplet technology, ensuring exceptional detail and vibrant colour gradients for impressive print quality.

Additionally, the press supports variable data printing, allowing for easy customisation with barcodes and QR codes, which is perfect for brands with specific labelling needs. An integrated post-press inspection system improves quality control by detecting printing errors and increasing production efficiency.

With options for modular configuration, including digital cold foil stamping and inline quality inspection, the DSmart330F caters to the evolving demands of the label printing market.

Jesons Industries | Stand: K15
Jesons Industries’ prime product at the show will be its hot melt pressure sensitive-adhesive (HMPSA) grades for tapes and label applications. The product was launched in January of this year. The company offer a wide variety of HMPSA grades which, according to Parag Korde, deputy sales manager at Jesons, can sustain tough environmental and application challenges to ease cost pressure. 

The company offers a wide variety of peel, shear and tack values, along with cold and high-temperature resistance enabling labels to bear all weathers. Its HMPSA grade offers resistance up to –20 degrees on varied substrates, such as paper, film, glass and corrugation among others. 

“We aim to bridge the market gap within India enabling customers to get the right solutions for their requirements,” said Korde. “We have gotten positive feedback from our tape manufacturers for our Jesons 1003 and Jesons 1006,” he added.

The company will also showcase their leading water-based PSA products along with Bondex 2011WO made specifically for labels of returning glass bottles. 

Konica Minolta | Stand: K28
Konica Minolta India is set to make a significant impact at Labelexpo 2024 with its latest range of innovations in label printing. The highlight will be the AccurioLabel 400, an advanced digital label press featuring CMYK + white toner capabilities, print speeds of up to 39.9 metres per minute, and seamless integration with conventional print workflows. In addition, the company will present automated digital die-cutting and workflow solutions to illustrate just how easy hybrid printing systems are to work with.

Kurz India will showcase its embellishment technologies at Labelexpo 2024. Visitors can explore advanced solutions in hot stamping, cold transfer, and digital finishing, highlighting Kurz’s commitment as a One Step Solution provider.

Key innovations include the eco-friendly KPW slim solution with a thin six micrometre carrier, Distorun 2.0 for efficient carrier use, and Trustseal SFX technology for striking 3D effects. Additionally, Kurz will unveil secure, counterfeit-proof label patterns, ensuring product integrity.

Lucid Imaging | Stand: F33
Lucid Imaging’s star product at Labelexpo will be its OptiCheck label. Visitors at the Lucid Imaging booth will also be able to see a live demo of how the optional holo add-on can enhance its functionality for holographic label inspection.

The OptiCheck label is powered by a line scan camera, providing superior accuracy compared to traditional area scan camera systems, especially for high-speed label printing lines. Its line scan camera delivers high accuracy and better image quality in continuous production environments. 

Unlike traditional label inspection systems that use area scan cameras, the line scan camera excels at detecting defects across long, continuous surfaces, making it ideal for high-speed label production. The product bolsters local support, as it is made in India.

The product is also compatible with various substrates. OptiCheck label has over 30 installations globally, with around 15 installations in India. Lucid Imaging will also showcase a comprehensive PDF proofing solution that compares printed samples with original PDF artwork or customer PDFs against press PDFs, ensuring the highest level of accuracy in the printed output.
