Labelexpo Preview: Finishing and dies

Post-press process has undergone a transformation. If digital finishing is where all the action is, the conventional players have upped the ante too. There’s a lot of action in this space at the Labelexpo Europe show.

20 machines including Jetfx

AB Graphic | Hall 6, Stall A37

AB Graphic marks its 65th anniversary at the largest ever Labelexpo show, which will see the company showcase 20 machines. The highlights will be a digital embellishment module – Jetfx – for integration on the Digicon Series 3 converting line for multiple processes in one pass including spot varnishing, cold foiling and tactile screen. It features two inkjet heads with UV pinning and UV curing, and pre-press software among other options. A Digilase 4.0 laser system with reduced web path and decreased lead in/out material. The B5010 Booklet machine can process up to 36,000 booklet labels per hour with a registration accuracy of +/- 0.5mm.

 

DCL2

Grafotronic | Hall 7, Stall C46

The Grafotronic stand will see no less than 11 machines, seven of them new. The star is the DCL2 which will feature hot stamping/embossing and flatbed screen, LASX laser die-cutting, a multilayer label module, and a high-speed non-stop line with the Gigafast semi-rotary 160 m/min.

 

MEBR+

Lemorau | Hall 6, Stall A23

MEBR+ is a modular digital finishing machine. It runs in full rotary and semi-rotary modes and is equipped with a servo-driven compensator system for web tension control when running in semi-rotary. The one at the show will have a flexo module added to the standard configuration.

 

Shrink sleeving machine

Lesko Engineering | Hall 11, Stall A43

The company will showcase a brand new shrink sleeving (seaming) machine. The fully compact machine is capable of fast and precise seaming of shrink sleeves. Also on the show will be Lesko’s finishing machine, CF380 fitted with corona treater and a flexo unit with UV LED dryer among other units.


Rhino E flatbed system

Pantec | Hall 5, Stall A36

Pantec’s new Rhino E flatbed system on the stand will produce high-quality spirits and wine labels. Pantec will also demonstrate its Swift rotary foiling system on bodycare products, showing embellishment inline with lenses, holograms, and metallic hot foils.


Flatbed foil printer

Peleman | Hall 7, Stall E20

Printed presentation and photo specialist Peleman will make its Labelexpo Europe debut with its digital flatbed foil printer. The new device will enable printing companies to offer on-demand services and create one-off proposals prototype labels as well as folding carton samples.

 

DC-M and Digicut Plus

Polar Mohr | Hall 6, Stall C43

Polar the DC-M die-cutter and Digicut Plus, the laser cutter Digicut can groove, perforate, kiss-cut and engrave, all in one step without having to change a tool. In short what it does is reduce makeready times to zero, besides producing many forms without having to change the tools.

 

Digifast 20,000

Prati | Hall 5, Stall C41

The new Digifast 20,000 is designed for finishing mid-web format digitally-printed materials. In addition, the Prati and Screen’s hybrid configuration, Digifast One on the stand with pre-and post-print modules allows functionality such as in-line priming, effects, and thus enhance label production.

 

VCML Pilot Coater

The company will show a variety of flexo and gravure colour communication systems from the inexpensive K Hand coater, to the VCML Pilot coater. The VCML Pilot coater is a reel to reel machine developed for printing, coating, and laminating for R&D, product development, and QC.

 

RotoRepel

RotoMetrics | Hall 4, Stall B45

RotoMetrics's adhesive control treatment, RotoRepel, the company says, offers performance benefits that allow presses to run faster and dies to last longer. Also on stand will be MyRoto.com, an online quoting and ordering website with enhanced features to better track and manage a die library.

 

Olfactory Doming

The company’s Olfactory Doming is a smart label, in relief, in which integrates a a perfume that will diffuse the  fragrance for six months to three years depending on the end-use. It is a tool dedicated to sensory marketing, stimulating customer experience, and usually at the point-of-sale.

 

SmargGap anvils

Wink | Hall 6, Stall C32

The die-cutting solution specialist will show its enhanced line of SmargGap adjustable anvils. The anvil allows adapting the cutting depth precisely to different liner thicknesses, so that even with demanding applications and very thin liners, optimum die-cutting results are achieved.
