Labelexpo Preview: Presses – Flexo & Hybrid

Flexo presses today have evolved thanks to the automation. Be it the print quality or the ability to integrate digital as a one-pass solution. So much so, flexo is now considered a viable option to offset or gravue. And it’s getting wider too. At the Labelexpo Europe see how flexo is playing the fast catching up game.

UV/flexo hybrid press

Bobst along with Mouvent will unveil a new UV/flexo hybrid press along with a range of new technology introductions, including Ink-on-Demand (IoD), which replaces conventional inking reservoirs with a single rubber pipe that dispenses 30 grams of ink to the print unit.

 

Viva 420

The Viva 420 is an upgrade to the Viva 340 shown at Labelexpo Europe 2017. The new combination press based on the Aniflo printing technology gets improvements in size (420mm), speed (85 m/min), low set-up time and waste. Codimag says, it sees this press as a real alternative to flexo.

 

 Contiweb Thallo

Contiweb | Hall 7, Stall E59

Launched in 2014, the hybrid web offset system was developed with DG Press, a web offset service provider. The press is equipped with an advanced web tension control system, enabling print providers to not only print on paper and cardboard but also on stretchy substrates.

 

FL3, FL5, EZ Die and EFX Print Bar

Edale will showcase the FL3 (430mm width) and FL5 (510mm width) print modules and a host of other kits. The new ‘EZ Die’ enables the operators to change a die tool in less than 60 seconds. Plus the EFX Print Bar, a UV-based inkjet system designed to  digitise print finishing and embellishment.


D-Flex and E-Flex

Focus will show its D-Flex digital inkjet press with an inkjet white for the first time, which incorporates Konica Minolta’s HiQ 1800 dpi technology. Also on the stand will be the E-Flex model with automated pre-register functions using the new compact LED UV curing system from Phoseon.


Gallus Smartfire, Digital Printbar

Gallus will focus on digitisation of label production under the motto – Powered by your trust. Whether purely digital, hybrid, or conventional, Gallus says, its machines can do it at all levels. The new kit Gallus Smartfire digital label printing press will be on show in live demonstrations. Gallus will also launch two other products, a new Digital Printbar, and a new fully rotary front-loading die-cut unit.

The Digital Printbar is an inkjet printing unit designed specifically for digital insetting of highly opaque, digital white. With a printing width of 430mm, the new Digital Printbar benefits from inkjet-based digital print technology and is designed specifically for opaque white.

 

Invicta-i2

Lombardi will world premiere to this brand new line created for flexible packaging in the mid web sector. Invicta-i2 is gearless as well as shaftless with direct drive motorisation of the 3 print axes: anilox, plate and chilled drum, with a print format up to 36-inch and web width of 1100mm.

 

Digital Pro, Digital Series HD

Mark Andy | Hall 8, Stall A60

Mark Andy will unveil the latest iteration of the Performance Series line and a new entry- to mid-level digital hybrid press. The Digital Pro is a modular four-colour toner system, which would be available as a roll-to-roll model or as an advanced inline hybrid with semi-rotary die-cutting. It is capable of production speeds of 23.5m/min for all applications. Also on show will be the Digital Series HD, a seven-colour UV inkjet press with QCDC-SR, Live VDP and StitchAI, modular hybrid press pairing UV inkjet with advanced workflow and converting systems. Available in 17-inch width (431mm) will run live, four times a day, highlighting its high-speed shrink sleeve capabilities. 

 

EF Symjet press

MPS | Hall 11, Stall C20

Get the best of both worlds. The highlight of the MPS stand will be its hybrid EF Symjet press in a new colour scheme and focuses on press connectivity to MIS systems. The EF SYMJET flexo press is built with the standard MPS EF platform and an integrated Domino digital N610i inkjet printer

 

Multitec S1

Multitec Aids  | Hall 5, Stand C10

The Multitec S1 model in eight-colour and 450-mm width is a full-servo press with auto-register, chill rolls, two cold-foil stations, turnbar with delam-relam. The company will demonstrate the press to print on 30-microns PVC shrink material as well as 12-microns BOPP.

 

FA-22, FA-26 and FA-17 presses

The company will introduce its FA-22 press for labels and flexible packaging running shrink sleeves and premiere FA-26 which is focussed on flexible packaging. All running live, two FA-17 press will run with hotfoil/embossing FP-4 unit, and inkjet units for opaque white and varnish.

 

Omet X7

Omet | Hall 6, Stall C49, C53

The latest addition to the XFlex line, Omet X7 can be seen live in action at the show. The machine for labels and flexible packaging comes with 670mm (26-inch) web width. The XJet hybrid flexo + inkjet machine powered by Durst, can produce shrink labels with combined printing.

 

Flexo press

UV Graphic Converting | Hall 3, Stand C71

This eight-colour multi option full servo flexo press is equipped with a floating hot foil stamping station which can be moved to any print station, a movable and flexible peel and seal unit to print multi color and multi layer coupon labels and the capability to print 12 micron films.
