Lecta said in a statement released on 19 February that due to the significant increase in raw material costs, especially driven by pulp, alongside other manufacturing costs related to the recent supply chain constraints in the Red Sea, it will apply “an unavoidable price increase on its Specialty Papers ranges of 8% to 10%”.
The price increase will be applied to all products in its range – including all of its labelling and flexible packaging papers, coated one side, release liners, metallised, cast coated, thermal, and carbonless.
The implementation of the price increase will depend on the type of product and will be effective for all markets effective on deliveries from 1 April, it added.
Lecta said its sales teams remain available to all customers to provide more detailed information.
Meanwhile, Sappi Europe will increase prices for its Packaging and Speciality products by 5-8%, also effective on deliveries from 1 April.
In a statement that was also released yesterday, the company said: “This increase is necessary to maintain the viability of Sappi’s business, the actual amount will depend on the product.”
It said Sappi’s European sales team would be in further contact directly with customers to discuss the details of the implementation.
