Legal softwares
On behalf of Mumbai Mudrak Sangh, sincere best wishes for Ganesh festival.  In the past six years, MMS has been advocating to printers all over India to adopt fair business practices and to buy legal software which would facilitate smooth working as well as avoid legal complications. Now-a-days software companies are organising raids all over India. We are not against legal actions but we protest the extraction and unfair practices adopted by their agents. We sincerely appeal to all printers to avail the discount offer extended by Adobe and hope that the Corel and Microsoft would also come forward with a sumptuous discount instead of selling the softwares to us at gun-point.

Election fever
Meanwhile there is election fever and N number of promises and assurances are being given to printers with multiple plans of action. Why? Good relations don't need any promises, terms or conditions. It just needs two wonderful people - One who can trust and one, who can understand. MMS thank Mr Arvind Dhanani for his act of keeping the promise and understanding and pray to God Ganesha to bless all contestants to come forward and work together for the betterment of the print industry.

MMPIPTR initiatives to develop trained employees
The Indian printing industry is facing a dearth of trained hands. To overcome this problem MMPIPTR has joined hands with TISS and started the degree course at Panvel. MMPIPTR has also started a six months’ certificate course to attract ninth pass students to the print industry and train them on offset machines as well as make them competent by teaching them theory. The first batch of 50 students is ready to join the allocated presses in Mumbai on 1 October. From 1 November, a similar training programme will be conducted in Pune and Nagpur in coordination with the Poona Prèss Owners Association and Printers’ Guild respectively. We appeal printers to come forward and support the activities of MMP and development of its Print Education Institute.

Self appraisal
With cut-throat competition comes the compulsion to stay one step ahead. The same applies to our industry as well. I would like to narrate this through this following incidence.

A little boy went to a telephone booth which was at the cash counter of a store and dialed a number. The store-owner observed and listened to the conversation:

Boy: “Lady, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn?”
Woman: (at the other end of the phone line) "I already have someone to cut my lawn."
Boy: "Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price than the person who cuts your lawn now."
Woman: “I'm very satisfied with the person who is presently cutting my lawn.”
Boy: (with more perseverance) "Lady, I'll even sweep the floor & the stairs of your house for free.”
Woman: “No, thank you.”
With a smile on his face, the little boy end call with thank you.
The store-owner, who was listening to all this, walked over to the boy and says, "Son...I like your attitude; I like that positive spirit & would like to offer you a job."  The boy rejects his offer. Surprised with this the store owner asks the reason to which the boy answers, “Sir, I was just checking my performance at the job I already have. I am the one who is working for that lady I was talking to!"

The moral of the above story is: Quality and service is the essence of your business. Let us adhere to the principle of self regulation rather than wooing the client at any cost.
