The company, which produces brochures, catalogues, posters, direct mail and direct marketing mailers, point-of-purchase displays, packaging, art reproductions, museum prints, manuals, books and other items, from larger projects to small runs, will look to enhance its print quality with the HUV capability of the new press.

“Previously, the UV finishing done on specialty papers had to be given a coat. This really deprived the customer of the feel of the effect,” said Ashok Patel, director of Legriffe. “With HUV, we will not need to do the coating. Moreover, the process of coating was time-consuming. With the new Komori, we can target the market with more confidence.”

Legriffe was established in 1987 as a screen printing unit by Patel and his brothers, Atul and Kalpesh. In 2001, Legriffe brought in offset printing. In 2004, the company installed a secondhand four-colour Komori press, replacing it four years later with a brand new Komori LS429, which continues to occupy Legriffe’s print production space.

Besides, presses, the company has a Kodak Trendsetter CTP system for pre-press and, punching machine and folder-gluers as part of its post-press kit.

The company had to restructure its premises in order to accommodate the new LS 529, a five-colour plus coater HUV K Dry press.

“The new press will be our star machine,” said Patel. “For any printer, cost of production is the key to success. One of the unique features of the new press is its low consumption of power, and the ability to print oil-based ink, HUV inks as well as conventional UV inks. With these capabilities, we can withstand market pressures.”

The LS529 is also equipped with the non-stop feeder, ink wash, semi APC, chamber coating, IR Hot Air, KHS AI (a cost saver), Komorimatics, pre-sets on paper etc.
