LMAI sees a need for a jolt to waste management strategy

The Label Manufacturers Association of India (LMAI) recently organized an informative seminar on - The Future of EPR and Waste Management - at the Radisson Blu Atria in Bengaluru. The seminar aimed to address the importance of sustainable waste management and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and saw a record attendance of 108 participants, including LMAI members and non-members.

The event was made possible through the generous sponsorship of various companies. Avery Dennison was the diamond sponsor, UPM was the platinum sponsor, and VeePee Graphic Solutions, Acme Rolltech, and HP were gold sponsors. Newgen Printronics, Creative Graphics, and Wink contributed as Silver Sponsors.

Jaideep Singh, the honorary secretary of LMAI, welcomed the attendees with an introductory speech, setting the tone for the informative seminar ahead.

The seminar featured diverse speakers who shared valuable insights and perspectives on sustainability and waste management. Pardip Singh from Avery Dennison discussed the company's global efforts towards sustainability and the development of a circular ecosystem, highlighting several initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact.

UPM representative, Suresh Valecha, spoke about products with recycled content, linerless technology, and innovative wash-off labels, emphasising UPM's commitment to environmental stewardship and collaboration with label converters.

Acme Rolltech and HP speakers provided valuable perspectives on their respective domains of anilox rollers and digital presses concerning their sustainability initiatives and reducing wastage at convertors' works. Natasha from VeePee Graphic Solutions spoke about sustainability in pre-press, showcasing the significance of environmental considerations in every stage of production.

The event also had a guest speaker, Shailendra Singh from Dhartie Net Zero (DNZ), a subject-matter expert on sustainability. He delivered a compelling presentation on sustainability strategy development, offering practical approaches tailored for MSME companies.

Pradeep Saroha from Labelexpo India shared insights on Labelexpo events in India and Europe, enriching the audience's understanding of events in the label industry. He shared the dates, venue, and hall numbers for Labelexpo India 2024.

In conclusion, LMAI director Harveer Sahni expressed his heartfelt thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all involved in making the seminar a resounding success. "The seminar was informative and engaging, and the attendees left with valuable insights and perspectives on sustainable waste management and EPR," he said.
