Ludhiana’s Gagan opts for a second Canon Imagepress
Ludhiana-based Gagan Color Images has installed a Canon Imagepress C8000VP. This is the company’s second Canon digital press in the last 30 months. The earlier machine, a Canon Imagepress C10000VP, has been running on the shopfloor for two-and-a-half years.

Aman Kalra of Gagan Color Images said, “Being an existing user of a Canon machine, we are satisfied with the printing quality, speed and especially the after-sales services. So, we opted for another Canon production engine. Canon is a trouble-free machine.”
Gagan Color Images was established by Gagan Kalra in 1990. Aman Kalra joined the business in 1994. Now, the next generation of the Kalra family, Vibhore Kalra, has joined the family business.
Gagan has a complete setup to cater printing jobs. This includes, beside the Canon machines, two multicolour offset printing presses, two Canon 8585 mono production engines and a complete binding and post-press unit, and three digital printing presses. “We have permanent customers as well as walk-in customers,” Kalra said.
Right now, the company prints around 65,000 A3 colour prints and three lakh A4 mono prints per month. It produces around ten jobs per day and each job requires minimum 1,000 sheets. Around 50 people work in an 800-sq yard of Gagan shopfloor.
Puneet Datta, senior director, Professional Printing Products (PPP), Canon India said, “At Canon India, we are committed to delight our customers with innovation and advanced technology through our professional printing products. Ludhiana has been a crucial market for us in the North region as we have expanded our business in the region rapidly. This installation is a testimony to the trust that has been instilled by our customers that inspires us to continue innovating.”
