The digital print finishing machine has been supplied and installed by Dumor’s Indian representative Monotech Systems.
Sanu Kapila, founder and CEO, PrintShoot, said, “Print finishing is the most ignored segment of the entire process. Dumor’s cutting technology is precise and fast. As it is fully automatic, we can schedule more than 100 jobs at a time. It is economical and precise compared to its competition.”
PrintShoot, founded by Kapila not so long ago, is funded by a private equity firm. A team of 14 IT professionals and 11 staff members are currently at work to make the portal live. “Hopefully, our web portal will be live by the end of this month. We have started with basic productions like visiting cards, table-top calendars, posters, photo albums and others. For the first six months, our services will be limited to India and later we will serve overseas markets too,” added Kapila.
While developing the portal, Kapila said the company tried a few web2print solutions available in the market, but outcome was not satisfactory. “Later, we studied web2print business models of the leaders in the segment and realised that most of them developed their own systems. So we opted to develop our own system. It is a lengthy and expensive process, but it’s the only way,” he added.
While web2print may be a new venture for Kapila, he comes with three decades’ worth of printing experience, as he and his brother run Academic Foundation, a publishing house that specialises in publishing books on economics. “We are one of the few publication houses who have their own printing facility and this experience will definitely help us to serve our clients with better print products,” said Kapila.
Meanwhile, PrintShoot has installed two Konica Minolta engines (Bizhub Press 1052 and Accurio Press C2060) along with other finishing and print enhancement equipment. “We believe that digital printing presses are the future and opted for the same,” said Kapila.
Monotech has installed seven Dumor digital finishing machines in India. Besides PrintShoot, the machine is at Lucknow-based KK Jain Digital Color Lab; Hubballi-based Printsight Solution; Guwahati-based Print Express; Odisha-based Aura Graphics; Goa-based NET Global Digital Printing and Mumbai-based Indux Card.
