Manipal Technologies appoints Abhay Gupte as CEO

Gupte has replaced Anjani Mandal after he moved out to pursue his personal interests.

Gupte will bring to MTL his 29 years of experience in banking, financial services and information technology companies. In his most recent stint, Abhay was the managing director and partner at Logica and headed the business operations in India, Philippines, Morocco and CEE countries. Prior to Logica, Abhay was the managing director of EDS India for 10 years during which time he was involved in the acquisition of MphasiS in India. In the banking and financial service industry, Abhay has spent 12 years, wherein he grew to become the director of IT with American Express Bank and then with GE Capital Services as CIO & VP – IT.

Manipal Technologies has transformed from being a family-run printing business to a well-diversified print services and business solutions organisation. The operations at the firm are professionally run with the complete absence of owners. “It is better to have a promoter heading a strong empowered management team than having a mediocre management team where the promoter is compelled to be hands on. The challenge is to continuously induct fresh talent and provide them with the freedom and the opportunity to grow into future leaders, said Gautham Pai, managing director at MTL.

According to the new arrangement, all functional heads, SBU & business heads within the Manipal print portfolio will report to Abhay.
