Krishnan Singh, proprietor, Nest Advertising, said, “We initially used to outsource four-colour print requirements from Kolkata which used to increase our turnaround time. So to retain the jobs moving out of Imphal we decided to invest in a digital machine.”
Xerox Colour 550 Series can cater to graphic arts, pay-for-print, commercial print and corporate requirement and can produce a print quality with resolution up to 2400x2400dpi. The machine can accommodate a wide range of media both coated and uncoated stock, up to 300 gsm.
Nest Advertising is the first company to invest in a CTP technology with Kodak Trendsetter 400 platesetter at Manipur. The company supplies plates to around 60 Manipur-based printers. Singh said, “Before Nest invested in CTP technology, local printers never thought of investing in a four-colour machine due to the hassle of outsourcing plates from Kolkata.”
In addition to the CTP system, Nest Advertising is the first company to invest in a Welbound 2000, six-clamp perfect binding machine. Commenting on the purchase, Singh said, “We saw the rise in demand for quality binding jobs and we wanted to be ahead of the competitors. Hence we decided to invest in Welbound 2000.”
Singh is positive about the growth of printing industry in Manipur and the investment in the past two years speaks for itself. The firm plans to invest in hard-case forming machine, joint forming machine and a sewing machine to add to their existing product kit.
