Manipur-based R&K Packaging specialises in commercial printing and is equipped with two single colour mini-offset press from Autoprint and post-press equipment like cutting system and stitching machine. Initially, the firm started its operation by catering to the packaging needs of a pharmaceutical company in early 90’s. But due to the closure of the pharmaceutical company the firm decided to move in the commercial printing business.
Thokchom Sunil Singh, proprietor of R&K Packaging, said, “Konica Minolta C6000 press will enable us to cater to the increasing demand from our customers to produce shorter print runs.” The machine has a speed of 60 copies per minute and has a resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi. The machine can accept paper sizes of up to 13x19inch and grammage up to 300 gsm.
Commenting on the use of machine, Singh said, “The demand for four-colour jobs like magazine covers, CD covers and pamphlets among others are on the rise in Manipur. Now, clients demand quick delivery and the turnaround time for jobs is becoming shorter. The C6000 will enable us to effectively cater to these needs.”
This is the third digital machine to be installed at Manipur. The first machine was installed at CCP Printers which was a Konica Minolta Bizhub C6052, followed by a second installation by Nest Advertising and Marketing with a Xerox Colour 550 series.
Industries in Manipur constantly face problems such as poor supply of electricity and transportation. Despite all odds, Singh is optimistic about the future of print industry in the state. “There is growing awareness about print and its usage. I expect to see the scenario change for good in the next five years,” concluded Singh.
