Manuel Matare, director of Drupa and Digi media has stepped down and handed over his operational management to his successor, Sabine Geldermann. The transition phase will be carried on till the second quarter of 2013 after which time Matare will support the drupa and digi media teams in a consulting capacity.
Matare who will be celebrating his 60th birthday next year, said, "As hard as this step is for me, I have to slow down for health reasons. I am convinced that this solution is in the best interest of all parties involved and will ensure continued successful development of drupa and digi media."
Manuel Matare has been working with Messe Dusseldorf as a project director and division director for 25 years and over this period he has been in charge of Hogatec (International Trade Fair for Hotels, Gastronomy and Catering) and wire/tube (International Trade Fair for Wire, Cable, Production and Processing). Since 1994, he has been in charge of Drupa and further developed the internationalisation of the trade fair in that period. During his time, Drupa was also re-pitched as the leading international trade fair for print media, publishing and converting with a new corporate design featuring the pixel logo that replaced the old printing tampon.
Sabine Geldermann, the 46-year old, has served as a project director in charge of the European trade fair for advertising materials as well as the International Franchise Fair at Blenheim International (Germany), a globally operating British exhibition organiser. She has been present for both, the merger of Blenheim International with Miller Freeman in 1996 as well as the take-over by Reed Exhibitions, the world’s biggest privately owned exhibition organiser. As director, she has been a member of the extended board of Reed Exhibitions Germany since 2000 and has contributed to the positive development of new exhibition themes. In 2000 she was in charge of Viscom (International Trade Fair for Visual Communication, Technology and Design) and Pro Sign (International Trade Fair for Advertising Technology and Digital Printing).

Since 2009 she has been a member of Division Management at the German Engineering Association VDI (with nearly 1,50,000 members), where she is responsible for distribution and marketing as well as the recruitment of strategic partners.
