Santosh Bamne, the director, SAP Print Solutions, Mumbai said, “We are delighted with Manugraph for having done such a great refurbishment job on our existing Harris machine”.
SAP Print Solutions, the Mumbai-based firm is engaged in printing of annual report, book, IPO and commercial printing, both on sheetfed and web presses. Besides its location in Mumbai, the company has a printing unit in Vasai, on the outskirts of Mumbai.
“A detailed research by the Manugraph R&D team and close collaboration with us led to this significant breakthrough. Manugraph also added important features enhancing the print quality tremendously and successfully upgraded the press design," added Bamne.
To provide SAP with the best of solutions, there was an integration of the Manucolour with a CIP-3 interface in which the existing Microcolor remote ink zone system was replaced and the press was retro-fitted with the latest technology in the form of a state-of-the-art ink-adjustment add-on a ManuColour system. This, according to a Manugraph press note, substantially enhanced the machine’s performance.
To optimise the functionality further, the Manugraph team felt software modifications were required and introduced the control of the ink and dampening tracking feature in the ManuColour, which resulted in giving the customer improved quality, greater ease of operation and maximum optimisation of time, energy and paper.
In addition, a Manugraph spokesman said, "The engineers from Kolhapur designed, manufac-tured and fitted a new induct roller system for the said press. Manugraph's manufacturing stan-dards ensured that adequate precision was maintained during the manufacturing of the ink duct rollers with a special process, thus completing the customer’s requirements. But above all, as a result of all the above innovations, "SAP Solutions is now capable of using the existing heat set press more effectively for printing quality jobs with minimum wastage."
The Heidelberg Harris N400B is a heat-set web press, which is capable of printing 40gsm Bible paper. The machine can print annual reports, books, forms and magazines for print publishing, education and export sector.
Being a highly automated web press, this 120-feet long machine is controlled by three consoles in the print cabin room, and once the primary makeready is done, then one has to only feed the paper.
The press statement from Manugraph said, "By successfully refurbishing the Harris machine, Manugraph has outlined its strategy of reducing customer costs and increasing value with a new generation of engineering systems that can be used to upgrade existing products. Upgrades can be tailored to individual business needs from small to large scale requirements and the company has the expertise, advanced engineering technology and service capabilities to meet all such requirements."
