Martin Automatic stresses on automation

Martin Automatic, the US-based manufacturers of high performance splicing, rewinding, and tension control systems, is creating awareness about the importance of its systems to increase quality production and to reduce waste.

Hope Hu, regional manager, Asia Pacific, Martin Automatic, said, “Converters do not understand anything about automatic roll changer, a valuable and main part of the printing press. But if you change the roll manually, it takes from five to 15 minutes and thus, the downtime of the machine is increased and ultimately, it is a cost. It delays your production as well.”

The company has more than 20 installations in India, including 15 splicers and around 8 rewinders.

Though the company do not have any competitors in India, Hu regretted the fact that there is also less awareness, as the company is not displaying any machines at the expo.

Though he declined to reveal the names of customers, Hu said, the company has customers from packaging printing and label printing industries, with installations in Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.

“We believe Indian label printers need our system. While automatic roll changing system is not considered a main component of the machine, we have customers who concentrated on the issue and now saving electricity up to 20%,” Hu added.
