Javed Akhtar, noted lyricist and film script writer, graced the event as the chief guest. Lauding the importance of print, Akhtar said that the society took a big leap after the 15th century.
Chaitya Shah, managing director of Marvel Art Gallery said, “Since our inception, the idea behind producing these limited edition serigraphs of masters as well as contemporary artist is that the originals are only restricted to a certain class of society. In order to reach the mass and create awareness we started producing the prints which are of high quality standards and at the same time very affordable across each section of society.
Also, by creating these prints we also wish to carry forward the legacy of masterpieces across the present as well as next generation. Hence, by this print we shall create the awareness of our precious legacy.”
“Last but not the least, these prints help us to create the culture of art and immensely help in creating awareness amongst the youth. Producing these prints is as difficult the job as the artist would take the pain in order to create the original artwork. The research takes almost couple of weeks and then finally the work is started at every stage and print we have to take care of the strokes, colours, intensity, etc which is there in the original artwork. We are thankful to the artists and art lovers for showing their continuous faith and support,” he concluded.
Marvel Graphic Studio has also bagged the Fine Art Printer of the Year Award at the PrintWeek India Awards for two consecutive years in 2011 and 2012.
Ravindra Joshi, president of PPOA and organising-secretary of NAEP, said, “Awards events aspire printers to attain greater heights, and I am glad to be hosting the NAEP event in Pune. I thank the AIFMP for giving the PPOA an opportunity to host the event.”
Govind Bhargav, president of the All India Federation of Master Printers, which instituted the Awards, said that he is happy with the response received from the print industry and the huge turnout at the event in Pune. “It’s not important whether one wins or not, but it’s important to participate,” he said.
