Krause owner, Jurgen Horstmann said that a first deal of two platesetters was awarded to Krause at the WPE in Berlin in 2013 and two years of excellent experience in reliability and performance of the Krause CTP lines was the base for this strong future commitment from Mathrubhumi in the Krause technology.
The publisher has 10 printing locations in Kerala, which deploys 25 CTP devices most of which have been in service for more than 11 years, informed MV Shreyams Kumar, marketing and electronic media director, MPP. “The 20 new machines will replace the aging units and enable us to feed the higher productivity needs of the new TKS printing machines.”
The newspaper printer, between 2012 and 2015, upped its production capacity with the addition of threeTKS printing machines at several locations. Kumar said that two more TKS presses will be installed by the end of 2017, one of which is a heatset machine for commercial jobs.
“In order to augment the pre-press requirements of these high-end printing machines, we have invested in the Krause technology which can throughput at 250 plates per hour. Of the 20, two are high resolution platesetters that will be deployed to work along with the commercial printing machine,” said Kumar.
Kumar added, “In the last seven years, we have seen continuous growth and I expect a growth of 5-7% in 2016.”
The new machines will be supplied to various print sites over the next few months and are expected to complete the commissioning by the end of 2017.
