Mathrubhumi Group wins Swachhata Award
Kerala’s Mathrubhumi group has bagged the Union Government’s Swachhata award in media category. The awards were given at a function held at VigyanBhavan, New Delhi. The award was conferred to the group for its recognition of contribution towards the Clean India objective in urban areas. Mathrubhumi became the only institution to win the award in the media category.

The award was received in recognition of its exemplary initiatives such as ‘Mission Medical College’ (Calicut Medical Hospital), ‘Clean Calicut’ and ‘Clean Thrissur ‘campaigns, which were implemented with huge public participation.
The award was received by KR Pramod, chief manager – Public Relations, Mathrubhumi Group from Union Minister SS Ahluwalia.
Union Minister Uma Bharti, Hardeep Singh Puri and Ramesh Chandappa Jigajinagi, along with other senior officials attended the ‘Swachh Bharat Divas’ function organised by Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
The awards were distributed as part of the third anniversary of the launch of Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban). The ministry also facilitated 20 individuals and agencies in seven categories for significant contribution towards furthering the clean India objective in urban areas.
