Every year on 10 July, Malhotra’s birth anniversary, MBD Group celebrates Founder’s Day. This year, it was the 75th birth anniversary and the most awaited annual event went virtual owing to the Coronavirus pandemic. Displaying the indomitable spirit and never-say-die attitude of Ashok Kumar Malhotra, MBDians came together online to commemorate the MBD Group Founder’s Day.

The Group started with publishing and have diversified into eLearning, mLearning, skill development, eco-friendly notebooks, paper manufacturing, ICT infrastructure, hospitality, real estate and mall development and management. ‘Education for all’ has been the guiding principle and the organisation has ventured beyond national borders with presence in UK, South Africa and Sri Lanka.

With the changing needs of the classrooms, MBD Group added new tools to stimulate the traditional teaching learning methods. It launched the ACME app, an extensive online learning app featuring 15,000+ animated videos that cover all topics of CBSE and state boards for students of classes 1 to 12. During the pandemic, MBD Group provided content to more than 20,000 schools free of cost and offered support in online teaching through webinars to teachers.

MBD’s assessment portals have made studying from home possible for students. The eBooks are available online for students; also the printed books feature a QR code which are used for referring to eBooks and makes the Group pioneer in blending innovations in technology with pedagogy. Augmented Reality is alongside textbooks and super refreshers to better the teaching learning experience.

“Malhotra Ji was a visionary who always believed in making difference in the lives of the people by bringing positive changes. Keeping in mind the welfare of MBDians during the pandemic, medical insurance has been almost doubled for them. We also implemented the work-from-home strategy to safeguard the workforce during this pandemic, Satish Bala Malhotra, chairperson, MBD Group, said.

Brave is not the one who does not experience fear. Courageous is the one who acts selflessly in spite of the risks involved. MBD Group applauded the recipients of MBD Braveheart Awards and acknowledged the extraordinary courage displayed by them. Throwing light on the success of the Group, Monica Malhotra Kandhari, the managing director, said, “Team work has played an important role in all our successful endeavours. ‘MBD Bravehearts’ Awards is presented to MBDians who displayed extraordinary courage in the line of duty.”

The beautiful thing about education is that no one can take it away from you. And the more you share it, the more you have of it. The MBD Group is taking forward this tradition instituted by the Group’s founder Ashok Kumar Malhotra, said Sonica Malhotra Kandhari, joint managing director, MBD Group. “We truly believe in effecting change through education and empowerment. This year, we presented scholarships to over 100 students encouraging them in their pursuit of academic excellence,” she added.
