This is the first time that Arrow Digital has unveiled the machine, after having joined hands with Kornit just a few months ago.
Sam Patel, managing director, Arrow Digital, said, “The Kornit Storm II machine enables a superior printing on multiple fabric types, including light and dark garments. The machine runs under an eco-friendly process complying with strict standards.”
Kornit Storm II boasts of a maximum production output of 120 t-shirts per hour on light shade garments and 65 t-shirts per hour on dark shade garments. It has eight printheads and it provides a maximum resolution of up to 630dpi.
According to Patel, the usage of water-based inks has enabled Kornit Storm’s printing process to become 100% eco-friendly as no volatile organic compounds are involved, also, the garment itself is an eco-friendly material. "The direct to garment process doesn’t require any sort of pre-treatment, washing or streaming," added Patel.
Prakash Chopra, senior vice president - sales, Arrow Digital, said, “The machine offers a high-speed and quality at a very low running cost. The Industry is now moving towards much greener technology. Just 10-years back solvents dominated the market which was then replaced by eco-solvents. Similarly, now the shift is towards UV.”
“Digital printing is competing with screen print and that too with in-time service. We also have a software where you can put your measurements in, and you can get your customised garment printed and delivered to your home,” Patel added.
Patel explained the importance of digital garment printing with an example that ”let's say a global brand is conducting an event for a marathon or a similar sort of programme, and it wants to order 100 t-shirts in one go, then it would certainly opt for such digital printed t-shirts.”
According to Patel, the textile industry has become much customised and direct to garment printing is going hand in hand with this trend. “If you order a t-shirt online, these days it's delivered to your house two hours, that’s how quick the fashion industry has become.”
Apart from Kornit Storm II, Arrow also highlighted its range of EFI machines which included EFI H1625 LED.
The range of EFI machines that Arrow digital provides include true flatbed, hybrid, roll-to-roll, and single pass types, among others.
Arrow Digital has arranged an Open House on 05 March 2019 at the Renaissance Ahmedabad Hotel in Gujarat, which will shed light on Arrow's partnership with Kornit.
