MGI unveils a slew of digital presses and coaters
MGI celebrated its thirtieth anniversary in digital print equipment manufacturing and its fifth participation at Drupa by unveiling a line of digital presses and digital spot UV coaters, including the new B2 sheetfed digital inkjet press, the Alphajet, which is another addition to the slew of inkjet presses being showcased at the show.

The six-colour UV inkjet Alphajet technology is based on the Jetvarnish plus Jetcard platforms, which according to MGI “effectively bridges the gap between the advantages of speed, accuracy and quality of offset and benefits of on-demand, no makeready and variable data offered by digital technology”.
MGI has also launched the Jetvarnish with 3D embossing capabilities and the DP Nova UV coater, targeting at the book market. With a speed of 3,000 sheets per hour, the 20x42inch Jetvarnish can spot UV coat up to three times faster than the original
While the newly launched products will be commercial available for shipment, MGI has specified that the Alphajet will be ready for shipment in 2013 and the Jetvarnish will be available in fall 2012.
Natarajan also announced the sale of its fifth MGI Meteor DP 8700 to a Mumbai-based customer and the availablity of Jetvarnish 3D in India, once the shipment begins.
