The Coatings Technical Centre is designed to be a hub for innovation, equipped with sophisticated in-house testing capabilities that will provide tailored solutions for customers in the packaging industry. The centre aims to offer comprehensive support by conducting trials, testing new products, producing coated samples, and identifying areas for continuous improvement. Its primary objective is to foster the development of next generation coating solutions, ensuring high-quality products for its clients.
Mitsui Chemicals India’s Coating and ICT Solution Division (CISD) will feature an impressive array of solutions, with notable products such as Chemipearl heat seal coatings, Takelac gas-barrier solutions for paper and film, and high-performance polyurethane elastomers. These products are integral to a wide variety of applications, ensuring excellent performance and reliability within the packaging industry.
The facility is equipped with coating machines capable of handling all kinds of coating methods — including gravure, reverse gravure and air knife — along with other required testing equipment. This will allow customers’ issues to be quickly resolved in India rather than having to send products to Japan for testing and evaluation, as had been the case previously. In addition, the CTC will help support customers in developing products by undertaking R&D focused on the latest coating technologies, as well as by providing technical guidance to customers on getting the most out of Mitsui Chemicals’ products.
The inauguration ceremony, held at the Leela Hotel in Gurugram, with gathering of key stakeholders, including influential industry leaders and partners.
Norio Matsumoto, general manager of the affiliates coordination division of Mitsui Chemicals, extended his gratitude to all those involved in bringing the project to realization. He said, “Mitsui Chemicals is deeply thankful for the collaboration and friendship extended by Indian companies such as Jupiter Group, DS Group, and Uflex Group. The Indian market is playing a crucial role for us to achieve our ambitious goals for 2030.”
