This is the first new printing press of the company as the company already owns 22 offset printing units at its New Delhi facility.
Rakesh Kumar Julka, managing director, Modest Graphics, said, “We needed a brand new printing press to meet our increasing production demand as the in-house refurbished printing presses could not meet the demand. Heidelberg itself is in India and has excellent after-sales service, which were some of the reasons to go with a Heidelberg press. We are printing at 200 to 225lpi on 50-400gsm paper and paper boards with the same results.”
Modest is a family-owned business run by four brothers. It includes a pre-press and children book publishing house in New Delhi, and a printing facility at Jalandhar, Punjab. The company has a combined area of 14,500sq/ft at Okhla Industrial Area.
A Screen thermal CTP produces around 225 plates for in-house production with four-up size. The commercial and book printing facility at New Delhi converts more than 15 tonnes of paper per day in its round the clock operations.
A well-equipped in-house finishing department includes two Stahl folders, four Polar cutting machines, six clamp perfect binder from Welbound, three knife trimming machine, section sewing machine, die-cutting and spot UV thermal lamination machines.
“Earlier we used to produce a magazine in less than two days and now we do the same job in around 12 hours. Thus we are saving our production time. I will replace the entire lot of printing presses with Heidelberg presses,” added Julka.
