Ricoh unveiled "a very special deal" during the Bombay Master Printer's Association (BMPA) on 24 September at the Mayfair Banquets. The offer unveiled by Anjana Saha during a short presentation which showcased the digital strides made by the 135.3 bn yen worth Japanese company in India.
This special offer to purchase the Ricoh 8100s mono digital press was promptly availed by Mehul and Prithviraj Desai of Mail Order Solutions (MOS).
Prithviraj Desai, director at MOS said, "The rationale behind booking the three Ricoh machines was simple. We have a very specific requirement for personalising punched label sheets and envelopes." He added, "In this sense, the 8100 series from Ricoh serves our purpose perfectly."

MOS has made a major investment in the past quarter. The Mumbai-based firm aims to grow from Rs 120-crore to Rs 300-crore in the next five years.
Mehul Desai of MOS said, "In 2013, we decided to double our capacity. We were running three shifts and were full up. Also, we were looking to introduce new technology to improve our workflow and turnaround time. Since we were expanding our client base and client profile."
MOS invested in the Ricoh Infoprint 5000 which Mehul Desai was "necessary" since "volumes were going up, clients were asking for more stringent turnaround time, and flexibility was needed. The answer to all this was inkjet."
To purchase an inkjet system, the VDP specialist evaluated the big players in the market and found the Infoprint 5000 "to be the best option".
Desai added, "With clients demanding faster turnaround times, we are able to deliver to them. Once the artwork is in, our form set-up and pre-press get it ready for the inkjet. It’s a complete production line, where the roll goes in, the printing is done (including the VDP), and then it goes to the slitter that makes the sets. Then, depending on what the planners have decided, it goes on the CMC or for a manual operation. As a result, what used to take us three days can now be completed in a single 12-hour shift. A lot of existing work has been shifted to the inkjet press. This has freed up the offset machines and the digital cut-sheet machines. Now, we are able to accept more work and reach out to newer clients."
Prithviraj Desai endorsed this. He said, "The new chapter at MOS is very promising for me. It is yet another growth phase. Growth is what augments overall progress, and that is what the team at MOS and I strive for.
Ricoh is aiming to capture the digital print segment; for which it has invested in a new R&D centre in Bengaluru and its all India team of 847 employees. Besides a raft of installations in Western India, Anjana Saha also spoke of the 12 continuous feed digital devices at Seshasai Business Forms.
