Prithviraj Desai, director of MOS, said, “Prior to the investment in CMC, the inserting operation was carried out manually. Due to this, we were not able to scale up. The CMC envelope inserter has increased our capacity.”
Prior to the investment, MOS’s team invested more than two years with the Creed Engineer and CMC team trying to work out the ideal kit which could fulfil their VDP requirements.
Desai said, “We had specific requirements for our operations, and along with Creed and CMC, we worked for more than two years to incorporate our requirements into the system. The system has nine different variable feeders. So far, we have not utilised all nine. This definitely eliminates hand feeding and manual operations. It is a totally integrated system.”
PrintWeek India visited the MOS plant in Malad in Mumbai to see the kit which has rotary feeders with double grippers, and a transport chain pitch. This ensures a maximum rate of up to 20,000 envelopes per hour. This includes collated documents into an envelope and then drives envelope to the output in a single continuous motion transport. The highlight of the machine is its ability to cater to the direct mail industry.
The features are: Autoloaders for envelope feeder and insert feeders to reduce loading frequency; a touch panel control for set-up; format changes can be rendered in five minutes with toolless adjustments; automatic rejection of collation errors; tracking control for each document; available with a variety of feeder options; available with a variety of output options, including simple conveyor, automatic stacker for bundling and on-edge envelope stacker; and finally no stop (automatic rejection of errors) and flip-flop (allows the same product to be loaded in multiple feeders) system management functions ensure efficiency.
The CMC 400 was supplied by Creed Engineers, the Indian representative for CMC.
Ranesh Bajaj, director of Creed Engineers, said, “It was a pleasure for our team to work with the MOS team. From the initial detailing of the scope of work to the end of the installation and handover, this has perhaps been one of our smoothest transactions which goes on to prove the professionalism of all the organisations involved. It is important for the print industry to work in a similar fashion.”
Mohan Pailwan, AGM machine sales at Creed Engineers, said, “The CMC 400 provides the unique capabilities which are needed to meet and exceed the expectations placed on systems in today’s demanding production environment. This features a continuous motion raceway and simple flap-up inserting mechanism, advanced tracking control to insure document integrity and user friendly set-up and adjustments. Available with a wide range of input channels, feeder types, and output modules to handle a wide range of applications and media. The equipment is constructed for 24x7 operation, high reliability, high efficiency and requires little maintenance to help users achieve the lowest cost-per-piece inserting process. We are thankful to the MOS team for their support throughout the project.”
