MPS demonstrates two new label presses; flaunts affordability

MPS’s two new flexo presses, EF and EB, which were launched at Labelexpo Brussels in 2013, were showcased during a three-day open house at its Didam, Netherlands factory from 14 to 16 May 2014. During the event, the MPS team was engaged with over 120 delegates as it demonstrated the kits.

On the sidelines of the open house, PrintWeek India spoke to the MPS’s co-owner, Bert van den Brink, who takes care of the strategic product development at MPS. Brink explained that MPS does not compromise on the quality of the machine to attain certain price levels instead it reduces the number of functionalities thereby creates lower production price of the press and lower investment for the printer.

Brink said, “With the new EB press, MPS offers a mid-range machine with a much lower entry investment level to accommodate printers and converters seeking this type of solution.”

The EB press boasts of three critical features: Crisp Dot Light, iSet, and iStop technology. Brink explained, “With Crisp.Dot Light there is no gear connection between impression and plate cylinders. In other solutions, the gear profile has an influence on the pressure settings which affects the consistency of print quality and eliminates gear marking.”

He added, “The iSet technology provides a user-friendly way to regulate settings between impression, print and the anilox rollers, without influencing each other. With iSet technology, not only the left and right pressure settings of the plate cylinder/anilox roller can be set, but also the parallel pressure settings. iSet decreases setup waste and delivers reliable and repeatable quality. While, iStop optimizes stops and starts during printing and eliminates waste with material roll changes.”

The multi-substrate EF press is MPS’s top selling press. It can convert a variety of different substrates and designs and is equipped with all possible converting options, including gravure and screen. It is equipped with register sensors, register controls and automatic adjustments of print pressure among others.

Eric Hoendervangers, co-owner, MPS, said, “We appreciate the number of visitors who took time to attend our open house last week. It gave us the opportunity to showcase our new EB and EF flexo press technologies and share our industry knowledge and capabilities with leading label printers. Our manufacturing floor was buzzing with conversations after each session, and feedback from visitors has been overwhelmingly positive. It was an overall success for everyone involved.”

In India MPS is represented by Mumbai-based Genius Flexo Machinery. MPS has eight installations in India.
