The sub-committee report said that the methodology and process adopted for the study were robust and that revalidation and an audit of the field work carried out by third party is required to pin-point any anomalies with the findings of the study. The sub-committee has been directed to start the audit of the field work immediately, which is expected to be completed within four to six weeks. The IRS 2013 will remain in abeyance until the audit is completed.
The study has been abeyance since mid-February after 18 major media houses including The Times of India, India Today, Anandabazar Patrika, Dainik Jagran, Dainik Bhaskar, Lokmat, Daily News and Analysis, Sakshi, Nai Duniya,Outlook, The Hindu, Amar Ujala, Aaj Samaj, The Statesman, The Tribune, Bartaman Patrika, Mid Day and Dinakaran demanded the withdrawal of the IRS 2013 due what they said in a joint statement were shocking anomalies, which defy logic and commonsense.
