Mumbai to host World Packaging Congress’15

The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) will organise the World Packaging Congress from 9 to 10 October at the Renaissance Convention Centre Hotel, Powai, Mumbai. In concurrence with India Pack 2015, the theme-based international show will revolve around ‘Packaging Strategies for Global Competitiveness’.

The packaging event will witness more than 50 overseas and Indian experts and packaging professionals highlighting various aspects of the current global packaging scenario. The congress will explore the latest developments in strategies, techniques and technologies of packaging materials, equipment and systems in two days through six parallel conferences.
 
Thomas L Schneider, president, WPO, the keynote speaker will enlighten the attendees with the developments and emerging trends in this rapidly growing industry.
 
Sharing his thoughts on the growth of the Indian packaging industry, director of IIP, Dr NC Saha said, "Of the global USD 750bn, India constitutes a USD 24.6bn share. Today India and China are the two countries which are growing and India is now capable of tapping opportunities with its large population, which was once considered a bane. While packaging industry in China is growing at 18%, India follows with a 13-15%."
 
The two-day event will commence with a panel discussion on ‘make-in-India’, discussing Indian opportunities in the packaging industry. The session will be followed by a deliberation on technology and trends, issues and challenges in packaging of agro commodities, industrial, pharmaceuticals and consumer products. Trends and developments in flexible, rigid and semi-rigid packaging will be the high-point of the show.
 
World Packaging Organisation (WPO), Asian Packaging Federation (APF), Ministry of Commerce and Industry Government of India and Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFPI) are some of the major associations supporting the event.
