Laxmi Industries, Goa, a part of Laxmi Group, Mumbai, will be installing a Bobst Expertfold 80 A1 with Accubraille GT in their Goa plant. This will be Laxmi Group’s second Accubraille GT, with one already installed at the Group’s Vapi plant. This would be the first in Goa region.

The Laxmi Group, who has already installed a 100% print defect detection for folding boxes from Bobst (Accucheck) in their Vapi plant, started producing Braille embossed cartons at Goa plant on its die-cutters when demand started coming in. Amrit Chamaria of Laxmi Group, said “With the increase in SKU’s it was becoming difficult to manage the volume and quality consistency. That’s when we decided to invest in Accubraille GT from Bobst.”

“The export market although having margin pressures for pharma companies is still witnessing good double-digit growth,” said Chamaria. “Since a majority of pharma production in Goa is focussed towards export, there’s a high demand for quality work.” Chamaria added, “In the entire EU regulated market, Braille embossed cartons are mandatory. Accubraille’s main advantage is consistency on dot height and accurate positioning of the dots in both running and across running direction. This machine will help us remove all the hurdles and rejections regarding Braille complaints.”

Like every operation, there are challenges in Laxmi’s production operation too. But, Chamaria, sees investment in latest technology as a way to get around these challenges. “Recently we have invested in an H&H folding machine and a Vijuk folding machine, a patented kit, at Laxmi ’s Goa unit, in addition to this first Accubraille GT to strengthen the portfolio in the Goa plant,” Chamaria concluded.
