MV Shreyams Kumar elected president of the Indian Newspaper Society
In its 85th annual general meeting, the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) elected its new president. The INS is the apex body of the publishers of newspapers, magazines, and periodicals in the country. Per a press release issued by the INS, the meeting was held online, and the election was conducted via eVoting.

The president of the INS for 2024-25 is MV Shreyams Kumar, the managing director of the Malayalam newspaper, Mathrubhumi. Kumar has had a political career as a member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly (2006–2016), and a member of parliament in the Rajya Sabha (2020–2022).
Kumar succeeds Rakesh Sharma from the Hindi daily newspaper, Aaj Samaj.
The working committee for 2024-25 was also constituted in this meeting. Vivek Gupta, the managing director and chief group editor of Sanmarg, a Hindi daily in Eastern India, is the deputy president of the INS. Karan Rajendra Darda from Lokmat is the vice president, and Tanmay Maheshwari from Amar Ujala is the honorary treasurer of the INS for 2024-25. Mary Paul is the secretary general.
