This is because, according to the owner, Shiv Shankar Das, in the long run the company wants to establish itself as one of the best digital printout centres in Central India, with all in-house printing facilities.

Shiv Shankar Das of Cherry said the company studied all the options available in the market before deciding upon Canon. “We found the Canon ImagePress C600 to be the best machine in terms of cost, print output quality, service commitment and better media handling, and of course, Canon as a brand,” said Das.

Das, a mechanical engineer, said, rugged and sturdy, the C600 with a resolution of 2400x2400dpi, has CRT technology for exact front back registration, 300 gsm auto duplex paper printing facility, long print with a sheet size of 13x30 inch and latest EFI fiery and colour calibrator.

Most of all, Das is happy to see that the machine can handle a variety of media like textured media, adhesive media and non-tearable papers.

The machine is already in operation and Das said, "Despite the fact that the market has been volatile in terms of rate, the company is getting both rates and volumes because of quality production. Our volume has been increasing by the day.”

With the new machine, for now, Das wants to grow in the digital printing industry. Later, there are plans to enter into the book printing and binding space.

Ten people work in the 500 sq/ft Cherry digital printing facility outlet. Apart from the new Canon machine, the facility is equipped with Canon Colour and black & white machines, a golden embossing machine, a creasing machine, 24 lamination machine and a HP Designjet T2300 plotter.

Recently, the C600 made its way to the Unique Photo Offset Services shopfloor. Read their story here
