Nandakumar wins national award for print education
Dr M Nandakumar, the head of the Department of Printing Technology in Sivakasi has bagged the national-level ISTE Rajarambapu Patil award for being a promising engineering teacher. He received the award from Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) in New Delhi; which is a leader in technical education and contributes to the central government jobs.

ISTE recognised the services of the best teachers in engineering and polytechnic colleges and honours them with Awards in every year. Nandakumar, who is the principal of Arasan Ganesan Polytechnic College, Sivakasi bagged the ISTE Rajaram Patil National Award for promising Engineering Teacher for creative work done in Technical Education (Polytechnics) for 2020.
The 50th Annual Convention Award function of the ISTE was held at YB Chavan Centre in Mumbai in October. The chief minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray was the chief guest who presented the award to Nandakumar in the presence of learned academicians. Nandkumar received this award for the following categories: publishing articles in research journals, providing course material for content, community development activities, students’ academic performance, Industry Institute Partnership, motivating students to participate in intramural competitions, sports achievements, students’ placements and new techniques in yoga.
A press note shared by Arasan Ganesan Polytechnic College said, “Dr M Nandakumar has a PhD on green printing environmental management in offset printing from Anna University, Chennai.” Moreover, his research papers were published in five renowned international journals, seven national and International conferences.
Nandkumar has 25 years of experience in areas like pre-press, digital and offset printing. He has published books about digital and non-impact printing, designing software and desktop publishing for Diploma students. He is a coordinator for the National Level Common Syllabus Committee for Printing Technology. In addition, he is the project coordinator of central and state funded schemes of the Canada-India Institutional Cooperation Project, Persons with Disability Project and Community Development through Polytechnic Scheme.
In addition to the ISTE award, he has received the Arutchelvar Dr N Mahalingam Best Polytechnic Teacher Award in Tamil Nadu State by the ISTE in 2013, plus the Outstanding Academician Award by Saveetha Engineering College, Chennai and UP.
