Noida’s Golden Print and Pack powers shopfloor with Ricoh Pro C901
Noida-based Golden Print and Pack might look like any other digital printing company, but what sets it apart is the internal functioning of the organisation. Less than five months back, Golden Print Pack upgraded its digital pressroom with a Ricoh Pro C901 digital production press with EFI's Fiery system software, and in these five months the company has reached a monthly print cycle of over 1.6 lakh A4 sheets every month.

The company ventured into printing in the year 1996 with a mini-offset press. However, by 2005, the company’s owner, Anil Chauhan had decided to digitise the company’s print capabilities. “We have a long-standing relationship with over 200 clients of ours. There are over 150 parameters in offset printing that can affect the print quality, while in digital printing it’s possible to save profiles of works which can be later retrieved and used to maintain consistency in the job work. Thus we decided to make a move to digital printing,” said Chauhan.
“We researched for around six months before finalising the machine. We kept on comparing different substrates, profiles and intricate jobs on the press before signing on the dotted line. The newly-installed Pro C901 press is being actively used to produce commercial print jobs for our clients such as Asian Paints, LG, Honda etc.,” he added.
Commenting over the installation, Avijit Mukherjee, chief operating officer, Ricoh India said, “Golden Print and pack has been a premier digital print service provider for most of the leading corporates and this has been possible through sheer customer focus and process orientation.”
The company also has a customised billing software that is linked with all the machines as well as departments of the company. This software enables Golden to track each and every aspect of the business. The software, although is in the beta stage, facilitates Chauhan to keep a track of business on the go using his smartphone and tablet.
“It has a list of jobs and the final rates discussed with each client fed in the system. This helps us in calculating the cost of a job work and eliminates the stages of bargaining. Details of the representative of the clients who usually visits the facility are saved into the system along with their phone number and address so that it is easy to provide information to the client in case of any discrepancies,” said Chauhan.
“The incentive for the employees of our company is also linked with this software. If the sales team brings in a new account, the incentive is calculated by the software and automatically added to the employee’s salary. Thus, it always motivates the staff to work harder and smarter,” he added.

The company has been witnessing a double-digit growth since the last couple of years and expects to continue on the same curve. “Digital is the way printing will go in the future. While the offset press technologies will remain, the major part of the print production of the country will comprise of short-run jobs. Digital, therefore, will slowly increase its share in the market,’ concluded Chauhan. However, he added that to catch the trends of the market it’s important to add value to the print and also to strategically plan ahead.
