According to Ravi Shroff of Nutech, the print services industry is at a crucial but incredibly exciting juncture, undergoing a dramatic shift. “It is only prudent that printers must step up to this challenge to remain relevant,” he said.

He added that the acquisition represents a pooling of skills and resources, as Nutech Print Services acquires the entire B&W print portfolio of BBN, in an effort to provide superior print services with quicker turnaround times. “B&W jobs currently represent a third of Nutech Print Services’ work portfolio,” he said.

On the importance of the acquisition, Shroff added, “The move to consolidate under the umbrella of a much larger printer is a symbiotic relationship for both BBN and Nutech, wherein both the entities bring equal value to the table, whether it is technical expertise or direct sales figures.”
With the acquisition, a raft of sophisticated machines and trained manpower, the company is geared to handle highly specialised jobs, be it book printing, packaging or security printing,” Shroff said.

With a legacy spanning four decades, Nutech, headed by the second generation printer Ravi Shroff, offers pre-press, press and finishing facilities to the publishing industry and commercial jobs to the corporates. With the help of a 500+ workforce at the plant located in Faridabad in Delhi-NCR, the company is equipped to provide any trim size, be it monochrome or high-end colour printing.

The company’s mix of work runs from basic one-colour paperback to four-colour coffee table /children's books, school textbooks, dictionaries, colouring books, travel guides, calendars, Bible printing on 28 gsm paper and much more, with finishing facilities including soft- and hardcover binding.

Baba Barkha Nath Printers was founded in 1978, with one of the first phototypesetting machines in India. The company initially forayed into packaging, supplying for companies like Nirulas and Bennett Coleman & Co. In 1989, the company moved into book exports, supplying books for Penguin, OUP, Frank Educational Aids, and other big publishers.

Meanwhile, the managing director Timmy Kuthiala, an alumnus of St Xaviers’ and the IIT, Delhi, brought with him years of technical and hands-on experience. The company had been growing at 20% a year, marked by the company’s investment in a four-colour Heidelberg kit last year.
Meanwhile, Nutech has been growing at almost 20% a year, with the company investing in a Kolbus Ratiobinder and a Wohlenberg 28 station collator in the last 18 months to further expand its post-press capabilities.

Following the acquisition, the company’s corporate office will be located at B-25/3, Okhla Industrial Area Phase II, New Delhi 110020.
