“Machine manufacturers and printing and converting companies want to increase their profits, reduce cost and increase revenues. The Industry 4.0 provides key technologies to satisfy that needs of both,” said Marco Calcagni, Omet’s sales manager, during a press briefing.
The X6.0 built on the multi-process concept is an inline integration of every printing process – digital inkjet, offset by sleeve, flexo (UV and UV LED), rotogravure, rotary screen and flexo (water-based and solvent).
Omet also claimed that the first hybrid flexo-offset printing press, has been developed after customer feedback, who Calcagni said, wanted more of the offset variant. “It’s ideal for bigger printers of flexible packaging and high quality labels (wine and spirits sector)
Omet has introduced the Omet X6 JetPlus, the in-line combination of Durst Tau 330 and Omet XFlex X6, an integrated hybrid solution.
The two new concepts, the Transparent Factory Cloud and SmartGlasses, Calcagni said, are built around the four rules for applying Industry 4.0. These are used in smart products with integrated standard ethernet, use intelligent devices open to industrial and ethernet buses, use web operator interfaces, and create an easy connection with machines.
And finally, Calcagni announced new upgrades to the iFlex, which will now have chill rollers that will help cool down substrate and keep the temperature stable. “It will allow perfect printing results even on a filmic material.”
