OUP India partners with CENTA for Teaching Professionals’ Olympiad 2018

Oxford University Press (OUP), the world’s largest university press, has partnered with Centre for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA) for the 4th edition of CENTA’s flagship initiative, Teaching Professionals’ Olympiad (TPO) 2018. A national competition for teachers in the format of a multiple-choice test, TPO 2018 will be held this December 8 in 46 cities in India and at CENTA’s international centres in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Oxford University Press (OUP) India will sponsor the top two winners of TPO 2018 English tracks (Middle School and Secondary/ Senior Secondary) to attend the two-week Oxford English Language Teachers’ Academy Masterclass at the University of Oxford, UK.

The 2nd and 3rd rank holders of the Middle School English track and 2nd rank holders of Secondary and Senior Secondary English tracks will be sponsored for the Oxford Teachers’ Academy Online training programme in partnership with the University of Oxford; and rank holders 4th to 7thof the Middle School English track and rank holders 3rd to 5th of Secondary and Senior Secondary English tracks will receive sponsorship for OUP’s Online Teacher Training programme.

Speaking about OUP’s association with CENTA, Sivaramakrishnan Venkateswaran, managing director, Oxford University Press India, said, “OUP firmly believes that the teacher is the principle pivot in the teaching-learning eco-system. This year, TPO is available in 21 subject tracks (up from 14 last year) across Primary, Middle, Secondary and Senior Secondary school levels. The Primary track (mix of Language, Maths and EVS) is also available in six language mediums this time – Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu along with English.

Along with the OUP prizes, TPO 2018 winners have many more exciting and relevant prizes to look forward to. These include 100+ cash awards Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5,000), sponsorship to world’s biggest education conference in Dubai, profiling in The Hindu group of publications, co-authoring the 2nd edition of ‘Chalk and Challenges’, a book on teaching perspectives and smartphones for toppers of the primary regional language tracks.
