The key players at the show were Pelican, Expert and Uflex, who are the premium Indian-make gravure press manufacturers. In addition, there were players like C Trivedi, Star Flex and Canara Flex, who also received encouraging enquiries from visitors.

Also, there were print and pre-media firms like Interlabels, Reynders, Any Graphics, Trigon, Image Gravures and Stovec (who offer a pre-media service). Of these, Trigon announced the booking of the Epson Surepress for digital label proofing at its Mumbai unit. This is the second such press in the country. Sai packaging installed the first Surepress.

While speaking to the PrintWeek India team, Anil Arora of PackPlus, said, “The four-day exhibition featured 275+ exhibitors, 50+ product launches, more than hundred machines and a footfall of 6,880 visitors.”

While the show featured exhibitors from the packaging fraternity, there were also several new companies wooing customers. “We are at PackPlus for the first time, and have received a good response. Apart from enquiries for new solutions from the existing clients like Wipro, Mother Diary, Dabur, we have also received lot of enquiries from new clients,” said Rajesh Naik of Autopack Machines. The company has confirmed its presence for PackPlus 2015.

Another newcomer was Ace Technologies, which displayed conveyors, metal detectors and powder fillers at the exhibition. “As we are targeting the mid-market segment, participating in PackPlus 2014 has served our purpose of making our presence felt. We received around 80 serious enquiries, which we hope to convert in business soon,” said Vinayak Mohan of Ace Technologies.

The show saw a solid order book as well. Valco Melton received an order for its hot melt glueing and dispensing system from Godrej Interiors. Likewise Coimbatore-based Bocpack Machinery received an order for its automatic folder gluer machine from a Delhi client.

The PackPlus team now gears up for the South edition of the show. Arora stated, “PackPlus South will be held from 17-20 September 2014 at HITEX International Exhibition Centre, Hyderabad. Print Fair, a platform for commercial printing and converting, will be held at the same venue from 24-27 September 2014.”
