Packaging poster competition evokes great response at IIP Hyderabad
Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), Hyderabad organised a packaging poster presentation competition themed as ‘Packaging for Tomorrow’ as a part of its seventh anniversary celebrations on 24 March 2013.

Chakravarthi AVPS, chairman, IIP Hyderabad, said, “IIP, Hyderabad centre was inaugurated on 24 March, 2006 and since then every year 24 March is being celebrated as packaging day with some innovative and interactive programmes.”
He further added that packaging professionals are now being considered as technocrats who enhance the economic growth of the country. It is now the right time for the government to address all the issues related packaging industry and work towards logical solutions.
Inaugurating the poster show, Dr Appaji, director general, Pharmexcil, said, “Hyderabad being the hub for pharmaceutical industry, packaging has a major role to play for its export growth.” He further added that it is imperative that all the packaging producers need to comply with the product requirements as per the DGFT regulation of stringent implementation of tracking and tracing of medications.
The poster presentation competition provided a platform for students to present their creative thoughts on packaging for future. It attracted huge response from students of IIP, Hyderabad and JN Polytechnic for packaging.
The award winning poster ‘Green Packaging for Better Tomorrow’ presented by Alankrita Reddy and Sonia T Ponnuppan of IIP touched upon the burning topic of sustainability and emphasised upon the need of reduce, reuse, recycle and biodegradability. Reddy said, “The packages must not add more burden on ecosystem, yet they should be useful to the customer and be relatively economical.” Another interesting poster which won award was ‘Printed solar cells to counter the power problem' presented by A Chandrasekhar and Chennakesava Kasina of IIP.
Besides poster presentation, a packaging material exhibition was also organised, which showcased host of packaging made of paper, plastic, metal, glass, wood and others, which was inaugurated by Arun Kumar Dukkipati, president, AGI Glaspac.
