The packaging paper segment includes kraft paper waste as well as board and duplex board waste.
According to Naresh Singhal, president, Indian Recovered Paper Traders Associations (IRPTA), the price of kraft paper waste has come down by approximately Rs 8.50, from earlier Rs 33.50 to Rs 25.
Meanwhile, the price of duplex board waste now stands at Rs 26.50.
Singhal said kraft paper constitutes nearly 55% of packaging paper waste.
At the same time, availability of writing and printing grade and newsprint remains scant. The price of newsprint waste has come down by 8% to Rs 3 per kg.
Singhal said the availability of packaging paper waste signals that the market is opening up. “The lower market rates show that the materials are available now and the market is stabilising. This should also open up job opportunities in the market.”
The IRPTA represents more than 800 members on a pan-India basis involved in recovered/waste paper related activities. Its members include collectors, aggregators, indenter and suppliers of recovered paper in India.
