Puneet Aggarwal, managing director at DGM India, told PrintWeek that out of the eight orders, five were for its flagship product, SmartFold 1100 folder-gluers. The others include two die-cutters and one hot foil stamping machine.
“The current edition of Pamex has been quite successful for us. We’ve sold eight machines within three days of the exhibition. The customers saw the performance of the machines and finalised the deals.”
The company demonstrated the SmartFold 1100 folder-gluer at its stall at Pamex.
The company manufactured over 400 folder-gluers last year and has successfully installed more than 50 machines in India alone. The machine is capable of churning out up to one lakh boxes per hour and can run solid board from 170gsm to 800gsm with a speed of up to 400 metres per minute.
Aggarwal said the main USP of its products is speed, flexibility, and performance at an affordable price. Rajeev Khurana of New Delhi-based Bhai Printers, who installed the SmartFold folder-gluer four months ago, also felt the same.
Khurana said, “We run the machine regularly and the quality of the prefold and overall output is very good.”
“If you compare it with other premium machines, the folder-gluer is almost 40-50% cheaper, but it comes with the same configuration, features, performance and quality as that of the former,” he added.
Aggarwal said, “In terms of price to performance ratio, we have a better edge.”
He added, “People want an affordable machine with full flexibility and good efficiency with local service support. DGM India has a demo centre and assembly unit in Sector 80, Noida. The demo centre will be functional by March 2020. With this, we can be closer to the customers.”
DGM India’s Noida plant is the first manufacturing unit outside China for the DGM Group. Speaking about the first major step after joining DGM on October 2018, Aggarwal said, “It’s the formation of a company in India.”
He said the machine will be initially assembled in India and open a 100% manufacturing facility in the country at a later stage.
