“Visitors to Pamex come mainly from tier-two and tier-three cities of Maharashtra and other nearby states. We are trying to reach out to these players with our presence at the show,” said Jayesh Savla, partner, Jay Raj Fine Paper, a company under the parent company Shah Devji Shivji.
Besides, Jay Raj is also introducing a range of bleached kraft paper called Starkraft with paper ranging from 30-gsm to 100-gsm for flexible packaging application. Starkraft is part of Heinzel Group Austria, with the mill in Belgium. “The primary applications are going to be food grade packaging, and grocery,” said Savla. “We have unveiled the product here, and we expect to make the material available by end-January 2020.”
In 2019, Jay Raj, which specialises only in fine papers, has grown by about 20%. Its total sales in fine paper was around 2,000-tonnes, while the other commodity grades, as a group, was around 20,000-tonnes. Savla, however, said that it’s the fine paper business that is more satisfying. “Because, besides the bottomline, we get to interact with top printers, designers, which help us understand the market better,” he said.
At the show, the company launched a new Swatch Book, which helps its customers select the right kind of papers for the right kind of applications.
