The final count is still awaited. “It was slow at the beginning of the show, but later it has picked up. Several exhibitors have shared that they have closed deals or are in serious talks with the customers whom they met at the show,” he said. The general council of AIFMP have not yet convened to announce the next Pamex managing committee members. This is expected to take place by mid-January.
He added, “Machines manufacturers from 22 countries and over 200 exhibitors attended the show.”
Asked why several exhibitors decided to have a catalogue show, Sharma said, “The Dollar Rupee fluctuations have hurt the market sentiments. In addition, several exhibitors had issue to get the machine on the Indian shores due to the cyclone warnings. Nevertheless, those who have showcased their machines, report that they have closed deals. Also, mere absence of the machine doesn’t mean that they aren’t highlighting new technologies.”
Sharma also added that the future of print in India is bright and by 2020 India will be the biggest shareholder in the global printing and packaging industry. The general council of AIFMP has not yet convened to announce the next Pamex managing committee members. The council meeting is expected to take place by mid-January. “The next Pamex will be even bigger. We are planning to introduce several sops for students so that they too are brought in close contact with the latest developments in the industry and are effectively trained in the due course. We will continue to focus on a 1+4 shows model, which means that we would hold a national show every year and support four regional shows too,” Sharma concluded.
