Speaking on the occasion, Anuj A Mehta, chief executive officer, Paper Bind said, “The PB PUR System 444 Series was designed keeping in mind the requirements of photo books or albums, produced by medium to large digital and offset printers. This range of machines uses PUR, which is among the strongest and most flexible binding adhesives currently known in the marketplace.”
PUR technology, although, has been around for many years, it has always been lingering in the shadows. Explaining its importance, Mehta added, “With inks, coatings and digital print toners present in the spines of books, there always a possibility of compromising the strength of typical hotmelt (EVA) binding. PUR, on the other hand, is resistant to this and will form a super-strong bond with all weights and finishes of paper stocks.”
Providing a solution for all on-demand short-to-medium-run binding for digital and offset printed book blocks, Paper Bind’s range of world-class PUR (Polyurethane Reactive) semi- and fully-automatic binders have found customers in various parts of the country.
Kayu Dhanbhoora, managing director of Kolor Kode, a Bengaluru-based customer who has been using the PB PUR System 444 said, "We installed the PB PUR System 444 eight months ago and as a result, our business has experienced a number of benefits. Most significant is the quality of binding which we can now offer customers who come in with thick books and manuals for print finishing. With PUR, such jobs are completed faster and better than before. This translates directly into time saved, which means we can therefore undertake a greater volume of business. The other advantage is stronger and more efficient binding as compared to traditional methods for specialty substrates such as metallic, UV-coated, laminated and similar.”
The growing acceptance of the technology can also be measured by the recent inclusion of a new category in the PrintWeek India Awards 2012 – PUR Book Maker of the Year.
