Parag Honour List 2024 released

Parag Honour List, an initiative of Tata Trusts, has released Parag Honour List 2024 — a curated collection of outstanding books in English and Hindi for children, young readers and young adults.

The Parag Honour List, published annually, comprises noteworthy books of the year with brief information about each title. It has been created after careful screening and multiple reviews by experts in children’s literature. The list aims to promote access to good quality children’s literature that librarians, teachers, parents and children can refer to and read.

As per this year’s criteria, the initiative received original writing in the category of picture books, young readers and young adults, in fiction, non-fiction and poetry, from 48 Indian publishers, published between October 2022 and September 2023.

The selection features 28 books in English and 13 books in Hindi.

The notable selection among English titles include Buffalo Baby by Nandita and illustrated by Charbak Dipta (Big Beetle Books); Cyrus the Whyrus by Lavanya Karthik and illustrated by Priya Kuriyan (Duckbill); Hello, Sun! written and illustrated by Rajiv Eipe; (Pratham Books); Listen to Appa by Asha Nehemiah and illustrated by Shubhshree Mathur (Eklavya); What Do We Name This Dog? by Menaka Raman and illustrated by Proiti Roy (Tulika Publishers); How to Reach Mars and Other Impossible Things by Menaka Raman and illustrated Rajiv Eipe (Puffin Books); Lady Tarzan: Jamuna Takes a Stand by Lavanya Karthik and illustrated by Rajiv Eipe (Jugnoo Prakashan; Ektara); The Harmony of Bees and Other Charms of Creepy Crawlies by Ranjit Lal and illustrated by Kavita Singh Kale (Talking Cub); and Lost in Translation by Jyoti Shinoli and illustrated by Tanvi Parulkar (Karadi Tales in Partnership with PARI);
