Parksons inks Heidelberg's biggest Drupa deal for India

The order consists of two Heidelberg CX 102 multicolour presses including all the innovations which were showcased at Drupa 2016.

According to Peter Rego, Heidelberg India, "This order reaffirms Parksons Packaging's faith in Heidelberg’s technology and service support. The newly signed machines will be the fourth and fifth brand new CX 102 presses to be installed at multiple locations in the last two years."

Parksons Packaging presses the new Heidelberg CX102 into production

India's first Heidelberg Speedmaster CX 102 is up and running at Parksons Packaging's unit in Daman. The six-colour machine which was installed early this year is among the four new presses, the Mumbai-based packaging converter had signed an agreement for in this financial year.

"Before buying the Speedmaster CX102, we were running three production shifts 24x7 non-stop. But now we have eliminated one shift totally, saving on labour, electricity and other consumables, thereby maximising profits and productivity," said Ramesh Kejriwal, chairman at Parksons Packaging.

"The corollary is, we achieved our target numbers with ease. Buying the CX102 has been our best business decision in recent years," he added. This is the seventh Heidelberg press for Parksons.

The CX102 press at Parksons is loaded with the Prinect Inpress Control system, which controls print quality while the sheets are on fly, thereby reducing wastage and shortening make-ready times.

Speaking on the press' added advantage Inpress Control, he said, “This is one of the most technically evolved solutions in the printing industry. The need of the hour is more automation and lesser manual interference. The CX102 fits this requirement to a tee. Our make-ready times have reduced to less than 15 minutes, and we need less than 80 waste sheets for colour matching, this saves us large volumes of ink and paper."

Further adding to this, Vinod Kela, general manager of the Parksons Packaging plant at Daman said, “Thanks to the new Speedmaster CX102, we are running just two shifts now. With the arrival of CX102, the Daman unit is now more energy efficient and cost-effective.“

Also, Kejriwal has indicated that he will be signing up for two more presses with Heidelberg shortly.
