Patparganj’s Royal Offset enters into packaging with Komori GL 537

Amanpreet Singh, owner of Royal Offset, said, “We were doing well in commercial and books publishing segments. Packaging was the segment where we were lacking, especially for UV jobs. So we have decided to opt for a new press dedicated for packaging jobs,” he said.

The new Komori is UV-ready machine and the company has installed five conventional UV lamps on the machine. The first lamp is after first printing unit to cure white, the second is after fourth printing unit to cure all four colours and the rest three have been installed at the delivery to cure the entire job at fast speed.

The UV lamps are supplied and installed by Alpna Visual Packaging Aids.

The machine has been installed in a newly occupied rented place. The area is 450-sqm and construction is ground plus three floors.

The Lithrone G 37 addresses critical needs of short turnarounds. It offers a 640x940-mm maximum sheet size. This press has the power to address the full span of requirements in the publishing and commercial segments. This press has colour management system which includes colour bar on sheets with eight up, ideal for producing high page count products with excellent print quality.

Well suitable for sheet thickness up to .8-mm and configured with 5-colour inline coater to flexibly deliver high added value printing for packaging, labels and cards and aims directly at higher earnings. The press comes with a speed of maximum 15,000-sheets per hour with KHS- AI at their core make the Lithrone G 37 the ultimate technology machine.

Singh emphasised on value addition to his press and has installed PDC SG which measures colour of printed items and provides feedback to press. This software is Komori’s propriety colour feedback technology. Along with this, the company has invested in KID (Komori info service display) which enables high productivity by contributing to quick, accurate decisions by the operator. KID is a support system with optimised information presentation.

Royal Offset is a first generation facility run by Baljeet Singh, and his son Amanpreet, who is an engineer in electronics.

Royal converts more than two-tonnes of paper daily in round-the-clock operation. It includes around 5,00,000 visiting cards, along with commercial jobs. The ratio between visiting cards and commercial is 40:60. After the installation of the new machine, offering of packaging jobs is also included.

“Since we are in the business from the last two decades and doing well in commercial and books, now is the time to serve packaging clients. Few of our existing clients will give us jobs but we are looking for new clients for our packaging segments,” said Singh.

Royal started as a plate processing house in 2000 and gradually ventured into printing. “We still expose plates for others, but clients are now limited. For in-house consumption, we burn around 250 plates per day.

The company owns a 64-bit Amsky CTCP and is now planning for a 128-bit one. Royal prints more than 100 jobs per day. Sing said since we are planning to cater customers from packaging segments, we will be opting for thermal CTP instead of CTCP.

“Our next investment will be in post-press, especially for packaging. Earlier, we were planning for green field expansion, which we have put on hold,” Singh added.

Royal has a tie-up with around 40 local small scale printers in the nearby areas and the neighbouring states. The company also takes advantage of Anand Vihar interstate bus terminal for faster transportation.
