PIA names Dr Rajendrakumar Anayath as Education Award of Excellence winner

Printing Industries of America (PIA) has named Dr Rajendrakumar Anayath from India as the winner of its 2011 Education Award of Excellence for industry representatives.

The award is presented annually to an academic and an industry representative in recognition of outstanding contributions to education and training in the graphic arts.

Dr Anayath demonstrates an unparalleled commitment to education in print at all levels - from formal education for students to technical training for industry professionals.

Dr Anayath, who currently heads Heidelberg India's Print Media Academy (PMA) in Chennai, is fully responsible for the establishment of the academy in India to cater the needs of the print Industry within the country. On the eve of PMA's establishment in 2008, Dr Anayath had said that: "The Indian printing industry is showing significant growth rates in local and international request for quality printed products. Most of the medium-sized printing companies in India running with outdated technology and used equipment were forced to meet these requirements and they failed miserably. Now they are well aware that only a quality machine with quality trained personal can fulfill their requirement and this is the very purpose of PMA in India"

Dr Anayath is an erudite academician, researcher and consultant with high calibre and extensive experience of over two decades in result oriented research, consultancy and training in Graphic Arts Industry. He possess a doctorate in printing engineering with extensive travel experience around the world (more than 26 countries) for conducting programmes, research activities, conferences and exhibitions. He is a of member prestigious research associations and bodies and has authored and published many research papers in national and international reputed journals. Apart from being a visiting professor to many universities and colleges around the world, he is a specialist writer on topics related to print.

Faheem Agboatwala, chairman of BMPA's Share to Benefit Forum, termed it as "stupendous news" for the Indian print industry.

Earlier this year, at an Indo German Conference for which PrintWeek India was the official media partner, Dr Anayath had made a presentation on eco-friendly applications.
