Poll: How to motivate young people into the print industry?
Young minds are the source of innovation and their ideas can revamp print business.
But is the industry doing enough to encourage the young into the industry?

PrintWeek India’s special poll on its website focuses on this. The poll lists six important factors which are necessary to motivate the young.
a) Boost the image with print superstars
Print veterans should share their stories at the educational platforms or on the social platforms and make youth realise the scope of the print in future. Youth should be made aware of the success stories of the top personalities in the printing business.
b) Reform the training curriculum.
All the machine manufacturers should have the facility of providing training not only to the employees of machine owners but also the young job seekers. Companies should have a policy of providing jobs with appropriate wages.
c) Talk to school/ college students about why print is important.
Print involves science and art more you make aware about the various technologies and artwork more will be the interest among the younger generation. There is a need to impart the importance of print from the grass root level. Introduce printing technology institutes with latest lab testing equipment and machinery.
d) Proper career advice.
The print industry has vast segments be it business development, designing, production, sales and much more. Guiding the young as per its talent during the higher education tenure will surely benefit the print as well as the younger generation.
e) Increase industry collaborations.
All the existing printing institutes should try to tie-up with the print industries. This can help in conducting training as well as workshops in the institutes by the industry representatives. It will also boost the recruitment process of the institute.
f) Plan factory visits
Factory visit is a must in the educational curriculum. Sole purpose of factory visit is that it makes student realise the printing segment which is suitable for itself. It opens up different career options for the students to choose from.
