Fire at Poysha Packaging costs three lives
A devastating fire at a packaging printing company, Poysha Packaging (on NH 58) on 4 November has shocked the industry, pushing it to deliberate on the need for adequate human asset and fire safety measures at units. This is the seventh such fire reported by PrintWeek India in the last 11 months.

The accident was reportedly caused after ethyl acetate and ink containers, which were being unloaded by the factory workers, caught fire. Around 60 workers were in working in the factory when the fire broke out. Three workers lost their life and around four were injured.
“All the fire safety measures were in place. The incident is really unfortunate and tragic,” the company management informed media. Poysha Packaging has offered Rs 11 lakh to each victim. It took over 24 hours and 150 rescue professionals to douse the fire. Noxious fumes in the basement and fumes made the rescue operations tougher.
The industry is appalled by a series of similar incidents this year. Early this month, a minor fire broke out at a packaging firm in Peenya, Bengaluru. According to media reports, the fire occurred when employees were working with a machine used to print text on plastic packaging materials. A spark in the machine triggered a blaze that engulfed the entire factory.
