PPP adds pre-owned Heidelberg kit, expanding to corrugation

Greater Noida-based paper and board packaging converter Premier Paper Packaging (PPP) has invested in an eight-colour Heidelberg with online coating. The pre-owned sheetfed press, which has been imported from Los Angeles, can print a sheet size of 28x40-inches.

Besides increasing its printing capacity with the new investment, PPP is also establishing a corrugation plant. For this, the company is building a 22,000-sq/ft shed.

Sanjeev Bhargava, proprietor of Premier Paper Packaging, said, “After the eight-colour Heidelberg press goes operational, we will dedicated our existing six-colour Heidelberg with coater only for UV jobs. Presently, we are using it for both UV and conventional printing. Now, we will use the eight-colour press for both UV and conventional printing.”

Bhargava added, “Right now, 70% of our total production is UV and rest 30% is conventional.”

Besides the two Heidelberg kits, the company also has two Planeta kits – one six-colour with coater and one two-colour. All the four presses can print sheets up to 28x40-inchs.

Planeta was established in 1898 at Radebeul, Germany. Its Planeta-Deca was the world’s first four-colour sheetfed offset press, launched in 1932. Koenig & Bauer (KBA) acquired Planeta in 1990s, and renamed the company KBA-Planeta.

Meanwhile, PPP is adding 22,000 sq/ft constructed area to its existing 42,000 sq/ft area. After this, the total constructed area of the company will be 64,000 sq/ft.

“The newly constructed 22,000 sq/ft will be dedicated to corrugation. We have finalised technology and equipment from Indian and Taiwanese manufacturers. We will be manufacturing E, F, G and narrow flute. We are hoping to convert more than 200 tonne of Kraft paper per month,” Bhargava added.

PPP converts around 500 tonne of paper and board per month. Runs of jobs vary from 1,000 to 100,000. “When it comes to job runs, we do not say no to our customers,” said Bhargava. “Our focus is to increase profitability, not turnover.”
